Annual Agency Conference

Since its beginnings in 1993, each year we hold our Annual Agency Conference in Watch Hill, RI. In its early years of development, Janet Baker RSM, Ph.D., facilitated the conference and helped put us on the path towards facilitating our own conference. The results of these annual conferences have been: the development of our mission statement, the establishment of theme teams and various topics in leadership training.

This year, the conference was attended by some of the folks, direct support professionals, nurses, psychologists, management and administration. On Monday, Corley Hanson Associates walked us through our strengths and weaknesses as an agency. We also looked at the opportunities for our organization as well as the threats to it. Our strengths far outweigh our weaknesses; but we are willing to work on our weaknesses in order to tackle our threats.

As a group, on a magic wall, we worked on a three-year vision. The following are steps we can take in these big areas of the vision to move us forward.

On Tuesday we picked what theme teams would be active in 2007-2008. Everyone in the group was able to sign up for the theme team of his/her choice and meet with that team to decide on a goal for the upcoming year. At the next meeting the team will choose their coach, timekeeper, scorekeeper, and referee.
