Re-Focus Day Programs

Beechnut Day Program

Day Program at Beechnut Beechnut Drive Residence supports an in-house day program Monday through Friday. Five residents take part in planning which activities they would like to participate in on a monthly basis. Activities range from delivering Meals on Wheels to planting and cultivating gardens for the yard. We do arts and crafts, food shop, play games, cook, spend time in our community, make projects, etc. A few of the folks have retired from previous jobs and enjoy taking part in day program activities. We hope to create new and exciting experiences to enrich these lives.

Cooke Drive Day Program

Day Program at Cooke The Cooke Drive Day Program has been in operation since November 1986. It started with the six folks who then resided within the home and soon expanded its program to include three other individuals. Presently, three of the folks from other Re-Focus, Inc. programs are also involved in the program. The activities vary from simple crafts, cooking, and exercise programs to memory therapy, dancing, and teaching adult daily living skills. Community involvement is a strong piece of the day program. Several folks are involved in volunteer activities each week. The composition of the program is continually revamped as the needs, cognitive skills, and physical capabilities of the folks we serve change with the natural progression of the aging process. We will continue to challenge ourselves and the folks to have and give the best that life can offer.

Parkside Avenue Day Program

Day Program at Parkside After eight years in a sheltered workshop setting that was no longer meeting their needs, the Parkside ladies were ready for a change. Following much research and planning, Parkside Avenue Residence started a home-based day program. This allowed for increased access to the community and a sense of self-fulfillment through regular volunteer activities. Whether delivering food and smiles for Meals on Wheels or tending to the children at FOCus Day Care Center, the ladies are benefiting as much as those they serve. New relationships have developed as a result of participation in these and other activities in the community. Recently, Parkside has responded to the needs of a woman from another group home. She now joins the Parkside ladies four days a week as part of her day activities. The day program will continue to evolve as the ladies' needs and desires change, always emphasizing innovation, growth and fun.

Sampson Avenue Day Program

Day Program at Sampson Two of the delightful men at Sampson Avenue have participated in a day program from their home five days a week for the past seven years. These men participate in opportunities such as Meals on Wheels, volunteering at McAuley House Soup Kitchen and the North Providence Police Department, recycling, the Food Bank and Sam's Club shopping. There is also an opportunity to spend time at a day care center for children, which one gentleman enjoys immensely. Activities are tailored to the talents, desires and health-concerns of each person. Two other men attend the Fogarty Center four days a week for vocational activities with a day off for leisure/community activities.
